HH. POPE FRANCIS VISITING INDINESIA

 Welcome to Indonesia HH. (His Holiness) Pope Francis.

Pope Francis, the Supreme Leader of the Catholic Church, recipient of the World Peace Award for Peace Health Education and Prosperity from The World Peace Organization on August 27, 2023 at the Sahid Hotel Jakarta, is scheduled to meet with Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and President-elect Prabowo Subianto today, September 4, 2024, as part of his state visit to Asia.

The meeting is expected to be an important highlight of the Pope's visit, which will continue until September 6.

The agenda of the meeting will focus on global development issues, including religious tolerance and strengthening relations between Indonesia and the Vatican.

The Indonesian government will also use this opportunity to showcase the diversity of cultures and religions in Indonesia. According to the State  Minister of Religion, HE. Yakult, he emphasized the importance of demonstrating Indonesia's ability to maintain unity despite its diverse population. "That's what we want to convey to HH (the Pope)," he said.

Pope Francis' apostolic journey to the Asia Pacific region, which includes Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, and Singapore, is the longest visit he has ever made during his 11-year papacy.

Indonesia was chosen as the first stopover because of its significant Christian population, which is around 20.5 million people, including 8.5 million Catholics. Pope Francis' visit marks the third trip by the Holy Father to the country after Paul VI's visit in 1970 and Pope John Paul II's visit in 1989.

It is hoped that in the midst of Pope Francis' schedule while in Indonesia, the WPO can meet with HH to discuss about Peace as per NGO's terms and cooperation with the Vatican for the World, as conveyed by the WPO through its Deputy Secretary General on behalf of the President of the World Peace Organization, HE. Yenny Agoestian in Jakarta.
